Voting, Afghan Style

According to western diplomats, in Hamid Karzai’s Kandahar homeland, 350,000 people ‘voted’, although only 25,000 actually popped a paper into the ballot boxes. The coalition will now have to defend the democratic credentials of a president who has won by fraud, something that puts him in the company of Ahmadinejad of Iran. Nice.
