Saturday Listening…

A little light relief for a sunny Saturday: Dilettante Music has asked me to give them my personal “Celebrity Playlist”. It took a bit of working out, but here’s the end result. Faure, Korngold, Franck, Chausson, Dohnanyi, Stravinsky and an alternative suite from The Nutcracker are just a few of the featured composers on a little trip down memory lane… Hope you enjoy it, and the music.

Here, as a taster and a day-late Friday Historical, is Mravinsky conducting the Leningrad Philharmonic in that alternative Tchaik: his own choice of music from that ballet, including the transformations of the last part of Act 1, the Grand Pas de Deux and the final waltz. This is the beginning.
