I'm Talking about Faust...
...tonight, Saturday, at the Royal Festival Hall at 6.15pm, in a pre-concert talk for the LPO. In the concert they and Vladimir Jurowski will play Wagner's Concert Overture on Faust and Liszt's A Faust Symphony. I am following the treasure-trail from Goethe to Liszt and discovering that the influence of Faust permeated much further into the great music of the 19th century than we might think at first. The concert also includes the Brahms Alto Rhapsody, with Anna Larsson as soloist. Please come along!
